There are many nice ski weekends left before the end of the winter. This resort, located 30 minutes from Quebec City, seems to have a microclimate that brings TONS of snow. It is definitely THE destination for winter sports enthusiasts of all levels. This is why we were looking forward to our weekend at Mont-Sainte-Anne.
Day 1:
We were expected at Château-Mont-Sainte-Anne on Friday evening with a nice surprise. Upon entering the room, we found evening ski tickets 😱! What better way to stretch after the road. In only 15 minutes, we were dressed and ready to board the gondola. This is what we call a perfect ski in, ski out!
The wide and lighted slopes made us enjoy the glide until 9 pm. We then went to the restaurant of the Château to taste a good onion soup, cheese gratiné from the region, root-beer ribs and beer from the local micro-brewery of Les Beaux Prés. MIAM!
Day 2:
AM : There is nothing better than sleeping at the foot of the slopes, when you want to be on the slopes as soon as the ski resort opens. After a good "light" breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes hahaha🙄), no choice but to go spend the calories in the glades! Our favorite: the Vita-Roy in the Versant Nord. We had did it like 3 or 4 times!
As the mountain was becoming more and more crowded, we decided to swap our alpine skis for cross-country skis in the afternoon.
PM: Ascent warning! You have to have legs, arms and cardio to take on the magnificent cross-country ski trails at Mont-Sainte-Anne. Being a former athlete in the discipline, this mountain has definitely been my top 1 resort for many years! For those who are new to cross-country skiing, it is also possible to enjoy the sport by taking the Jean-Larose trail that runs along the river. The view is breathtaking, just like the one from the ascent in the middle of the trail. Otherwise, it is possible to take a short walk in the campground near the main chalet!
Evening: Our friend Marc, who's a local, had spoken to us about the restaurant Le Brez; super friendly and convivial to eat fondue! It was a double: cheese and Chinese.
Day 3:
To make the most out of our ski weekend, we made some runs in the morning. We tried La Crête, the view was breathtaking on the river! We even had a little vertigo. A storm was soon coming (microclimate 😉), so we jumped in the spa to enjoy the Château until the last second. We then packed before the sky fell on our heads!
What an incredible ski experience
