Care Guide
Fosfo coats are designed to offer maximum warmth with minimum weight. Filled with RDS (Responsible Down Standard) certified down and made from recycled fishing nets, they combine comfort, performance and durability all winter long.
Down is an exceptional natural insulator: it traps air in its thousands of filaments to create lightweight, enveloping warmth. But over time, sweat, skin oils and impurities accumulate, reducing its loft and insulating power.
Contrary to popular belief, a down coat is made to be washed. Occasional washing with a cleaner designed for down garments helps restore its full volume, thus preserving its warmth, comfort and lifespan — so it can accompany you winter after winter.
How to wash your FOSFO down jacket?
Step 1: Pre-treat stains
- Use a mild soap (e.g., Marseille soap) to remove stains;
- Close all zippers;
- Turn the coat inside out.
To preserve the quality and durability of your Fosfo coat, it is recommended to start by gently treating stains with a mild soap, such as Marseille soap. Before washing, make sure to close all zippers, then turn the coat inside out.
Step 2: Cold water wash
- Wash in cold water;
- Use a specialized soap, Granger’s;
- Always wash the coat inside out.
Your Fosfo coat should be washed in cold water, using a specialized detergent, such as Granger's soaps, which are designed for technical apparel. The coat should always be washed inside out to protect its materials and finishes. The use of bleach should be avoided, as it could alter the fabrics and colors.
We do not recommend entrusting your Fosfo coat to a dry cleaner, as dry cleaning processes can alter or damage the garment's technical membrane.
Step 3: Machine drying
- Tumble dry at medium temperature;
- Use 3 tennis balls (or Granger's dryer balls) in the machine;
- Allow for 4 to 5 drying cycles;
- Do not iron;
- Do not wring.
After washing, tumble dry your coat at medium temperature with three clean tennis balls (or Granger's dryer balls) to fluff up the insulation. Allow for 4 to 5 drying cycles to ensure your coat is completely dry. Avoid ironing your coat and never wring it, in order to preserve the performance of its technical fabrics and insulation.
Step 4: Storage
When the seasons change, we advise you to store your coat in a protective cover to adequately protect it until its next use and away from direct sunlight.
