Born and raised in the snow

Our story begins in 1979 in Quebec with the founding of Audvik, a visionary winter coat brand that wanted to help create a more sustainable fashion industry. With local production, garment repair programs, and high-quality fabrics at its core, Audvik has always strived to offer responsible and durable winter clothing.

Today, FOSFO continues this legacy. Because creating cross-country skiing that matters means staying true to its roots: authenticity, expertise, and respect for the planet.

From track to equipment

Sophie grew up balancing CEGEP sports studies and competitions that took her all over Canada and the United States. Skiing wasn't a hobby—it was a way of life. She learned every detail: the equipment, the posture, what makes the difference between a good run and an excellent one.

At the Université de Sherbrooke, she changed course. She studied business administration, but skiing was never far away. The Vert et Or allowed her to stay connected to the sport. But Sophie also had an entrepreneurial spirit. She knew she wanted to build something.

Today, every FOSFO product bears her expertise. Because a true athlete knows what she wants.

The FOSFO DNA: color and innovation

In 2019, Sophie and her mother Élise launched FOSFO. The idea? To create innovative, fun, and colorful down jackets to offset Audvik's classic style. The winter market was too staid. People needed energy, color, a down jacket that exuded life.

FOSFO was all about that: skiing with style. No compromises. And my mother's role in all this? She brought her creative vision to every detail. Together, we created something that embodied FOSFO.

Returning to one's roots

Two years ago, it was time to create what Sophie had truly prepared her expertise for. A cross-country ski collection that combines technical innovation, athlete performance, and FOSFO's colourful DNA.

It wasn't a new beginning. It was a return to basics. To cross-country skiing. To the equipment that truly matters. To the collection that a serious (and joyful) athlete truly wanted on her shoulders.

The athlete dictates the equipment

FOSFO was not founded by designers or marketers. It was founded by someone who truly understands what it's like to ski. I know the importance of a cut that doesn't hinder you on the ascent. I know how moisture is managed at the bottom of a valley. I understand why every gram counts.

Every technical choice in our collections comes from this. These are not marketing compromises. It's for athletes, by athletes.

We see change. We act.

Sophie loves cross-country skiing. She's loved it since she was a child. And year after year, she sees what global warming is doing to the seasons. Conditions are changing. Trails are getting shorter. Snow arrives later, leaves earlier.

We can no longer pretend that nothing is happening. For FOSFO, that means one thing: reducing our footprint at every level. Recycled materials. Bio-based materials. Production processes that respect the planet.

This isn't greenwashing. It's the only way to create something meaningful when you love cross-country skiing.

Join the FOSFO community

FOSFO is for skiers who love cross-country skiing as much as we do. For those who understand that equipment matters. That colors matter. That what we create now impacts the winters of tomorrow.

We're not perfect. But we do things with the athlete in mind. The planet. The long term.
